So today, my older brother came to me asking to teach him how to code... I thought, "Why not? Great fucking idea!", until I realized that doing and teaching are two different things. I also realized that probably half of what I know, I'm not exactly sure how it works. I've been on and off programming for almost 10 years now, and not much of that involved learning the theories and algorithms.
So the language in question is Lua, run within the Love2d gaming framework. We spent half the day going over the basics, then we started putting that knowledge to use. A few shitty "demo games" later we're moving onto OOP, per his request. This is about where I realized that I wasn't too sure what I was doing.
All in all, we had a good productive day. He's pumped about learning something new, and I'm glad he asked me to help... And fuck, I got a lesson of my own today.
